Thinking about a tropical destination this year? Look no further you are in the right place at the right time.
Sint Maarten, part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is a country on the southern part of a Caribbean island shared with Saint Martin, a French overseas collectivity.
Get the experience of visiting two island colonies in the same 37 square miles. Saint Maarten/Saint Martin’s spicy marriage of Caribbean, French and Dutch cultures matches its physical diversity: the island is both urban and untamed, with rain forest-like landscapes, white beaches, and amazing caves and wildlife. Sint Maarten also known as SXM is mainly popular for its Dutch side. It is a more popular area which attracts more tourist with everything they have to offer. With its colourful buildings and main attractions I’m pretty sure you are wondering what can I do while visiting the island of Sint Maarten?
During my stay I did jet skiing with Big Foot Jet Ski Rentals at a reasonable price (local price). They are located in Philipsburg, boardwalk. At the boardwalk there are a line of restaurants and bars you can spend the day at while listening to music and sipping on some cocktails. While strolling through boardwalk take a visit at the breathtaking Ocean Lounge for a relaxing time. And make your way through town where you see feel the culture of Sint Maarten.
Other activities you can consider are:
- Sky Explorer Flying Dutchman Schooner Ride and Sentry Hill Zip Line which costs around £80 all together.
- Private charter to Anguilla or a Ferry to Anguilla which is another island that’s located near by.
- A day trip to St. Barts.
- Snorkelling & Kayaking.
- Pedal Boat SXM.
Let’s get into the lovely food in Sint Maarten.
For breakfast I highly recommend stopping by the lovely Yacht Club Bar Restaurant located in Simpson Bay by the bridge. Such a lovely view watching the boats go by.
For lunch take a trip at Sunset Beach Bar located in Maho Beach. This beautiful destination is mostly famous for the landing of jets and it’s take off. While having lunch you can relax and watch the planes pass by closely.
Trying to experience that local life ? Take a trip to Captains D Rib Shack located in Simpson Bay for some delicious grill ribs and trust me you’ll have a great time. There are so many beaches to choose from here are a list of some dreamy beaches you can take a visit to:
- Maho Beach
- South West
- Burgeaux Beach
- Simpson Bay West
- South West Coast
- Pelican Bay
- Kim Sha Beach
- Mullet Bay
With 37 distinct beaches, Sint Maarten is a dream come through destination. With so many attractions and memories that will last forever this island is a prime Caribbean vacation destination for you.
Accommodation
- Sonesta Ocean Point Resort (all inclusive)
- Divi Little Bay Beach Resort
- Oyster Bay Beach Resort
You won’t go wrong with any of these places listed above. Great scenery, the food is delicious and the workers are very friendly.
Happy Travels!
