Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of Saint Martin. The territory consists of the main island of Anguilla, approximately 16 miles (26 km) long by 3 miles (5 km) wide at its widest point, together with a number of much smaller islands and cays with no permanent population. The island’s capital is The Valley. The total land area of the territory is 35 square miles (90 km2), with a population of approximately 13,500 (2006 estimate).
On late 6 September to 7 September 2017, the Category 5 Hurricane Irma hit the island. As of the next day, one death had been reported but the island sustained extensive damage to many buildings as well as its electricity infrastructure, water supply, and government buildings. The UK government summarized this as “severe and in places critical” damage. Yesterday it has came across my attention that there is fake news travelling around about Anguilla being fixed. I am disgusted after watching a London reporter claiming that the Anguilla Schools are fixed, the Hospital is fixed and so is the airport. Ask yourself this how can all this be fixed in one day or a few hours and how can you claim about sending help within 24 hours when you know for yourself that England has acted worthless on this matter. Before help was sent other islands were already assisted by their own embassy.
The pictures displayed above are the Airport and a Primary School. How is this fixed? How can someone go on National TV and lie so boastful knowing that people are suffering in hurt and devastation? I am truly devastated by everything that has taken place after and during this matter.

Why isn’t anyone going live to speak about this matter? These people who are trending fake news needs to be exposed and confronted! Where is our leader ? I am honestly guttered that my own country leader has not spoken out publicly to his own people. I know this is not the time for political points, but this is a time people of Anguilla look to their leader for support. 12 September 2017 our leader decides to speak out publicly after so long. I am honestly lost for words.
I am from this Island and I will speak my mind because it devastates me everyday. How can you not speak out publicly to your own people that are in need of urgent help. What is a letter though? The people need more than just this. Anguilla is in need of help as soon as possible and no matter where I am in this world I will always be a proud ‘Anguillian’ and I will always do my very best to help out.
So many looting and what is happening to these looters? Nothing. This is a time where we all should be helping each other and trying to rebuild rather than destroying others more when they are already destroyed. Why steal TV’s and name branded Sneakers? There’s no power how will this TV work ? The island is damaged where are you going to really wear these shoes? All looters should be dealt with accordingly. There’s no electric how will everyone survive? I said it before and I’ll say it again ANGUILLA IS IN NEED OF URGENT HELP!
The picture above shows how damaged the High School in Anguilla is currently. How is this fixed ? Students will be out of School for a very long time due to the damages. This saddens me to know that the Students education will be on hold for some time. I have not heard a strategy/ plan as to what are the next steps for the people of Anguilla. This is a time where everyone’s voices should be heard loud and clear. Enough is enough!
Anyone out there reading this please click the link below to donate. Even if you do not want to donate or you cannot please share this link. And even if I do not reach my goal I am still grateful for what I am doing for my Island. I refuse to sit down and wait knowing that things are not sorted. I contacted many sources such as my Church and different international rescue organisations (non- profit organisations) etc. and most of them have declined my offer and most have said they need to hear from the Anguilla Government in order to support. It amazes me how most companies claim they do this and that but its the opposite. But I do know this when one door close another one will definitely open. Anguilla needs your help. All the help that we can get is appreciative and needed.

To all my Anguillians please continue to keep the faith. My heart and prayers are with everyone back at home. Hurricane Irma was a Category 5 but God is stronger and I pray that he continues to guide and protect everyone in the Caribbean especially my home ‘ Anguilla’.
